2018-02-09 08:51:11 GMT | Thank you for bearing with us during yesterday’s outage. All TwS ICT services have now been restored. There may still be some problems accessing internal BCC websites (e.g. The Source) while we undo the work-arounds put in place yesterday. The IT failure was caused by an overnight power cut in BCC’s data centre. Whilst the back-up power supply worked as it should, it appears that fluxes in power when the mains electricity returned caused a problem with the cooling and monitoring systems, causing some servers and network equipment to overheat. BCC’s data centre operations team will be undertaking a thorough investigation as to exactly what happened, and how this can be prevented from happening again. |
