Description | network outage has taken place. Investigations underway. This is on top of our internet feed being at full capacity today due to Microsoft "Patch tuesday" taking place overnight causing many devices to download updates. To mitigate the impact to schools, we are looking at ways to reduce traffic at peak times. Windows Updates are a major factor in generating traffic. Where possible, if you do not have your own Windows Update Server (WSUS), please encourage your IT Support technicians to use our central WSUS for all updates. Our server settings are http://wsus.bristol-cyps.org.uk port 8530. This should be a very simple configuration change which could improve speeds dramatically if implemented by the majority of schools. At present we host critical, security, definition & rollup updates and service packs for currently supported Windows OS’s and Office suites. If you believe your school will require updates that we are not currently supplying, please let the Helpdesk know. |
