Description Some schools are reporting slowness when accessing the internet. There seems to be no consistency with which websites are slow or where on the network the user is. The same website may be quick to access shortly afterwards. Investigations are underway, and we have identified that the issue is related to the firewall. The Networks team are currently liaising with the Firewall suppliers to identify and rectify the issue.

2015-05-12 11:04:40 BST Investigations are ongoing. Different levels of Support have now been involved. BCC are planning to failover the firewall on Wednesday evening (13th May) . This should rectify the slowness issue schools have been experiencing.
2015-05-15 09:44:52 BST The firewall was rebooted at approx 7pm on Wednesday 13th May. Our initial tests and feedback report schools no longer experience the delays they had previously. If your school finds this is not the case, please report the issue to the Schools IT Helpdesk. The firewall manufacturer has now seen the issue first hand and is working to implement a fix so this does not happen again.
